Outdoor Furnishing
It can be expensive; but if you just do a bit of

We recently had a garage sale - long overdue, but nevertheless it gave us the opportunity to unload items we just outgrew. Our outdoor set for one. We bought it as a placeholder, something I'm not a fan of doing but we were hosting a bbq when we first moved in to our home and needed affordable seating. We settled on what I felt to be The Most dated and chunky pieces available to mankind. I hated it the moment we settled on it. I loathed it soo much it never really made me feel like I wanted to be out on the back deck. It wasn't inviting or relaxing. The vibe was off and it wasn't even very comfortable. So, when someone wanted to take it off our hands, I was More than happy to part ways with it. Now, I have a clean slate to work with and perfect timing too! Most outdoor sets and singular pieces are on sale, since we're now at the end of the season. Perfect time to buy a new set! or at least it's the prefect time to start collecting pieces I really Love. Pieces that feel like me. Pieces that feel like Home. People really underestimate that feeling. What brings it about is different for everyone. Style, is different for everyone. For me, I've been leaning more towards clean lines with a modern feel, almost minimalistic. Thin wood and metal; still mixing in a bit of a rustic and cozy farmhouse feel. I love mixing design types. Like feminine and masculine, they're technically polar opposites but I think they blend extremely well together. But back to this new outdoor vibe - one piece I've had my eye on to kick off this remodel is the Teak Vernon Outdoor Rocker from West Elm. I've been dreaming of having coffee on one of these while watching the kids play for a WHILE now (let's be real though, I'm gonna need a set). What I'm not soo crazy about is it's price tag...at $320 a seat, I could barely afford just one.
Enter my frugality. There HAD to be something out there that boasted a similar look, keeping with the thin clean vibe I'm going for. One quick and easy google image search brought up 3 viable options. I could snag two rockers for just about the price of one West Elm seat. Target and Overstock had the best pricing on these chairs ranging from $148 - $154, but Hayneedle had the most color choices available in one spot albeit at a higher price point $172 - $199. I still haven't decided on whether I would like a classic modern feel with the black frame and white cushions or lean towards a more bohemian vibe with a natural wood option paired with the white cushions. Maybe I'll have to wait til I decide on a set to compliment it, potentially steering far away from what I imagined - going with a complimentary pop of color option...we shall see. I'm just happy that I'm not limited to the more expensive options based on my taste cause with 3 boys and two dogs, it just doesn't pay to invest in items that would cause me to trade in my happiness due to saving myself some coin for worry and concern over my choice in seating. So, hopefully this time next year I'll be lounging in [my] style, on the back deck watching my kids play, comfortably at Home.
