Lipstick Guide

As we near the start of summer and things are rumored to begin to slowly open up, we can now go back to the days where we used to plan our outfits and create makeup looks to go along with them. This past x-mas I was gifted a set by Lipstick Queen, a brand I had never heard of and when I opened the package I was a bit confused...the colors were odd...Green, Yellow, Purple and Blue. Why had my cousin given me this??? I'm usually an all shades of pink kinda girl and so is she, a commonality we bonded over, so to say I was perplexed by her gift was an understatement. I'm going to be honest and tell you that I left that package unopened for about a month. While sorting through my arsenal much later on, I happened across it again and decided to test them out or re-gift them. And boy am I glad I tried them out before deciding to give them away! Little did I know, these were a set of color-changing shades and they all looked glorious once I swiped them on. These particular lipsticks react with the warmth of your lips turning them a different shade, while vitamin E and shea butter keep your lips soft and hydrated. And these shades were made to last! Lips retain their blissful color all day long from just one swipe! Fading to a pretty just-bitten stain once the sheen wears off; I love it's staying power and the fact that the color is buildable. I also enjoy how the formula feels more like a balm than a traditional lipstick.

The colors I received are Frog Princea garish and remarkable lilypad green lipstick that transforms into a stunningly pretty rosebud pink [my personal fav]. Mornin' Sunshine - an amazing yellow lipstick that adjusts to a super flattering, super fun peach coral. Venetian Masquerade - a vibrant royal purple that switches to a bright raspberry, a bold yet wearable statement color. And lastly, Hello Sailor - a sapphire blue pigment that transforms into a cool deep berry tint with a sheer finish. I loved them all soo much, it was hard to choose a number 1 of the bunch, but Frog Prince won out over the rest because of its lustrous shade that's suitable for everyday wear. This brand's lipsticks are easily one of the few color-changing lip products on the market today that aren't gimmicky, but actually flattering. After looking into her and her product line I came across this lipstick breakdown [by occasion] and found it to be an interesting and accurate guide. Not surprising, considering she is an OG in the beauty industry. You can find her products in all the popular retail stores/sites from Ulta - Amazon. The color-changing variety sells for $24 a pop pretty much across the board. So, use her guide if you need a second opinion while in quarantine on a shade to invest in for when we're safely allowed out or buy her set of color-changing hues to keep your heart happy at home while you wait to be out in public mask-free again.
