The Psychology Behind
The Color Of Coffee
Varying shades of brown give rise to a sense of strength and reliability. It's color is also often associated with feelings of resilience, friendliness, dependability, security, and safety. All Good Things! Which is why our daily cup 'o joe is a comforting morning ritual - cold or hot, coffee [and tea!] subconsciously gives us a sense of Get Up and Get Started with vigor, zest and a sense of 'I can get it done' attitude for what lies ahead in our day - along side it's natural pick me up, of course. And while caffeine does help get us going, the color can ignite a spark much in the same way. With good reason, it's a common trend in attire, decor and wall color - nudes, tans and other shades of brown typically give us very warm, settled and secure feelings; reminding us of connections to earth and family. Whether in coffee [tea] or color - it comforts us, puts us at ease and makes us feel good!
In continuing my personal "love affair" with coffee, I'd like to share with you all a few of my Favorite things that give me the warm and fuzzies in the same way that first sip does:
•Purlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub\\$24
Starting up top - this product is marketed for the body but in my humble opinion, that sometimes includes the face. Not all products are okay to use on the more delicate skin of your face but this stuff is G-O-L-D. I almost exclusively use this stuff on my face; (it's gentle and leaves my skin insanely supple) but for those same reasons, it's Great for the body as well! Originally, it was gifted to me in the tiny travel size and it was Soo Good, I used it up a lot faster than any other exfoliant I've ever purchased. When you open it, and begin to lather it on, it smells like the Most exuberant, absolute Best cup of coffee you could ever imagine. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed and ridiculously smooth. It's gentle and highly moisturizing. It's also cruelty, paraben, mineral oil and phthalate free. It's components (that include: coffee, coconut oil, sugar cane, fruit extracts, cupuacu + mongongo seed, shea butter + moringa oil) melt together to provide amazing benefits for your body and also claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite! Whether the latter is true or not, I have yet to notice but I have re-uped on this product 3x's and I will continue to restock my shower with it each time it runs out - It's That Good!
•OGX Coconut Coffee Body Scrub Duo\\$12.75
This stuff boosts hydration and promotes supple skin. With it's creamy consistency and tiny coffee exfoliants, it's moisturizing blend will help soften and hydrate your skin. I use this as my daily body wash and not only does the smell help to wake me up, but it also calms and puts me at ease - a difficult combo but this stuff achieves just that. The formula, which is infused with exotic Arabica coffee and coconut oil, leaves my skin feel softer, smoother, and healthier after my shower. I follow up with it's body cream pairing for an extra layer of hydration post shower and it smells glorious. Like a Dream.
•DW Home Candles - any of their coffee scents\\$32
My Absolute FAVORITE is one I stock up on each time I get a notification that it's available on their site: Vanilla Latte. It's In-Sane. Like an aromatic hug. I keep this one by my bed and even without burning it, the intoxicating scent fills my room making it smell like the most invitingly warm coffee shop you've ever visited. It's clean aesthetic and simple design makes it a visual pleasure as well. I have a hard time displaying items that don't fit in with my decor. It takes more effort than I care to put in when I have to try to disguise and item I love the scent of but the packaging clashes with everything around it. I'll do it, but *uuuugh*. These are on the pricier side but they burn extremely well and slow. The scent is infused throughout the wax which means that even after a few hours and a few snuffings, the smell is just as good as the day you opened it. I invest in their [coffee] line because it never fails to awaken my senses and burning or not, it smells like a cozy, warm, leisurely Sunday morning on a cold day.
