Skincare is 2020

New Year, New Me, Right?!
Well, yes. But not in the typical resolutioners way,
What I hope to achieve has very little to do with the gym...

This year, I set 'goals' for myself. These are intentions that I will actively work towards in order to improve certain areas of my life. One small change at a time. In the back of my mind, I still harbor the usual - healthier living, energy improvement, motivation, better sleep patterns, etc...but I wanted to Really focus on one thing that I would actually actively do, for myself, on a more regular basis. As a momma, you're soo used to giving most all of yourself and everything you have to others. It's our nature, I wouldn't dream of changing that about myself. Couldn't if I tried. But it often leaves us feeling depleted. In an effort to combat this, I vowed to focus on one thing that brings me inner peace and creates a space for a calming, mildly rejuvenating routine. An old love, skincare. I used to have a nightly routine that I swore by. Little by little over the years, that has fallen away. This is the year I happily bring it back!

Now, apart from the creams, oils, washes and toners; I was introduced to micro-needling. I recently purchased and Amazing little contraption that I was Truly obsessed with - it only took 2 sessions to make me a convert. The needles are super fine but effective and...and here's the Most mindblowing part, it has a mini glass bottle attached to the end to hold your preferred serum! This way, as you roll, you're getting a fresh coat of [VitC is what I filled it with] whatever you feel gives you the best glow. It dispenses it little by little, in the perfect amount so that there's always product on your skin which the microneedles will help to guide in deeper - which is their intended purpose. No more needing to reapply which can possibly contaminate the serum or your pores. So, if you're ready to trade in your regular dermaroller for this amazing glass bottle, give this one a go!

Here is my magic bottle: https://amzn.to/2RM4bR2

Sticking with this same topic, when it comes to derma rolling [aka micro-needling] there are rules. Go in one direction. Try not to pass over tender skin. Disinfect, Disinfect, Disinfect! (alcohol is vital in keeping the needles clean, safe and prepped for subsequent sessions). So, if any of that stuff scares you or makes you a bit squeamish (cause, hello...Needles!!), fear not! There IS a product out there made just for you! Now, I haven't tried this product yet, but it's on my radar because of its sheer ingenuity! I'm literally ob-sessed and I haven't even received my sample yet. Peace Out Skincare has patches! Yes. You read that right - Micro Needling Patches. Genius. Sheer Genius. I can't wait to try their anti-aging pack: Peace Out Wrinkles. These little guys pack a punch, they contain retinol, peptides and vitamin C to help minimize the appearance of wrinkles. It's a cocktail I think I'll never tire of. Now, as far as I know, microneedle patches all work by having many short dissolvable pyramid shaped spines made from water soluble ingredients. When you press these patches into your skin, the pyramid shaped needles push past the topmost layer of skin [akin to the dermaroller], then begin dissolving. Inside each of the pyramids is a cocktail of ingredients intended to target things like acne, wrinkles, dark spots and some even claim to help boost collagen production. Uhh, fountain of youth anyone?!? P.S. Peace Out Skincare brand also carries dark spot and acne dots that I hear work miracles. Along with puffy eye and pore strips. They thought of everything.

So whether you're a seasoned pro at doing it yourself and are more comfortable with choosing your own serums or want to try a less invasive yet wonderfully mindless and just as effective approach to micro needling there are now very real and effective options for you on the market. Welcome to 2020!
