And Just Like That
Carrie Bradshaw put millennials
and style, back on the map.
and style, back on the map.
As the show began and she sat at her Macbook, I couldn't help but wonder, Who makes Carries readers? Where can I buy them? And more importantly, can I come even remotely close to affording them...
It's been said that SJP's [aka Carrie Bradshaw] frames are by Mykia; the 'Meryl' glasses and retail for roughly $574. I'm ALL for their slogan which paints a pretty picture of a chic NYC lifestyle - "A neo vintage look made for vibrant city dreams." but that price is a bit steep for this mom of three. According to her publicist, SJP gave references of frameless glasses a la Sophia Loren in the '70s, and the one Carrie's wearing in the show really gave us that feel, as well as bringing that reference to a more sleek and modern place. I'm All for style [I swoon for her shoe collection and eclectic vintage/high end pieces - can I just Live in her closet?!]. But, I'm still frugal. I think even if I were a Millionaire, I'd scour the internet for promo codes or shop when shipping is free. Enter 'The It List' where often times it's more of a 'Look For Less'; which is what this month is dedicated to. I Lived And Breathed for SATC. The iconic outfits, the accessories, the Shoes! You can't think about the currently trending nude colorways (that's monopolizing the fashion industry) without remembering Carrie's 'Nude Dress' - she did it first; our comeback Queen. Or her setting our sights back on to the sleek and sexy stiletto, at a time when clogs and platform shoes were in. I mean, come on! Those DREAMY cobalt blue satin Manolo Blahnik's that [still] retail for about $995 - made an epic [albeit bittersweet] re-emergence in Episode 1. Listed below are a few more affordable alternatives to the iconic and awe-inspiring styles we love, at every price point.
